Graduate School of Humanities (HUMA) Autumn School 2025

Huma sügiskool 2025
Author: Liise Marie Paadimeister

Dear master’s students! The annual Graduate School of Humanities (HUMA) Autumn School is coming again! The 10th conference will take place on the 27th–28th of November at the University of Tartu Library.

The event brings together students and lecturers throughout the humanities field. The conference will be held in both English and Estonian. The Autumn school aims to allow master’s students to give a presentation about their thesis and receive feedback from both professors and students from different faculties. The presentations will be held by 2nd-year master’s students, but 1st-year students can also try out a poster presentation.

Presentations should last no longer than 15 minutes and are followed by 15 minutes of discussions and feedback.

The Autumn School is not intended only for specialists in a certain field, but is rather meant for an interdisciplinary audience. The ability to popularise your field of study to a wider audience is a must in today’s academic world. When preparing for a presentation, you should focus on how to explain your research question(s) and how to explain them to people from another field of study.

The deadline for the presentation’s title and a 200-word thesis is November 1st. Please submit them to HUMA’s email address ([email protected]).

More information, instructions and examples from past years can be found on the HUMA home page.

All questions, problems and ideas are welcome and appreciated at [email protected].
