In the upcoming autumn semester, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities once again offers a wide range of optional courses open to students across all disciplines.

Are you ready to immerse yourself in the Estonian language and culture this summer? We are accepting applications for the Estonian summer courses, which will take place from 27 July to 7 August 2026 in Tartu, Estonia.

Explore mythical creatures, beliefs, and rituals of Ukrainian folklore, and see how stories of the supernatural shape culture, values, and identity from traditional narratives to contemporary media.

Adult learners are welcome to participate in micro-degree programmes starting in the spring semester to acquire an additional specialisation or competence in a narrow field. Applications can be submitted until 25 January.

University of Tartu semioticians Andreas Ventsel and Mari-Liis Madisson, along with Junior Research Fellow in Information Resilience Diana Poudel, have developed tools for enhancing critical digital literacy in cooperation with international partners. The practical materials are designed for use in higher education, schools, companies and organisations to support navigating the digital landscape and countering the spread of disinformation.

Adult learners can register for the University of Tartu’s micro-credential programmes starting in the autumn semester to acquire an additional specialisation or a new competence.

Adult learners are welcome to participate in micro-credential programmes starting in the spring semester and delivered in block mode or online form suitable for working people. Applications can be submitted until 21 January 2024.

This spring semester, the Institute of Estonian and General Linguistics offers a Tandem Language Learning course that also welcomes international students and employees who want to learn Estonian.

Until October 2022, all UT members can take one free Coursera course. Students can also use it towards the completion of their curriculum if they wish.
