The mentoring programme that has been popular in the previous years will be held again this autumn semester.

The new collection shows how emotions and affects shape political identities, amplify polarisation in times of crisis, and often turn public debate into emotional confrontation. „Power of Emotions. On the Affective Constitution of Political Struggle“ is edited by Andreas Ventsel, Professor of Political and Sociosemiotics at the University of Tartu, and Peeter Selg, Professor of Governance and Political Analysis at Tallinn University.

The first weeks at the university bring new acquaintances, new buildings, a new daily schedule and, of course, a lot of new knowledge. To organise the first weeks and the rest of the studies better, we have put together an information session on the most important topics, where first-year students can find out how to navigate the university.

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities offers numerous optional courses for the autumn semester, available to both our students and all other students at the University of Tartu.

From 12 June to 21 September, all University of Tartu staff and students and everyone else are welcome to complete the orienteering course “Exploring Tartu along Struve Geodetic Arc”.

On Thursday, 5 June, a new board for the University of Tartu Student Union (UTSU) was elected during a meeting of the student parliament.

The University of Tartu’s podcast for prospective international students, “Tiksu to UniTartu”, is back this summer with a second season.

On May 20, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., Associate Professor Ingrid Harrington from the University of New England, Australia will hold a guest lecture at University of Tartu on the award-winning project “Commencing Student Success Project”. The project provides 14 strategies aimed at helping all students feel supported at university and enhancing their academic success.

From 19 May to 6 June, the university library will once again be open for studying until midnight. In addition to extended opening hours, a range of activities will take place during the Night Library period.
