"Vilma Trummal 100" exhibition opening and presentation of a new digital textbook in archaeology
The exhibition „Vilma Trummal 100“ opens at the University of Tartu Philosophicum Hall Gallery (Jakobi 2, Tartu) on 21 November, the day that the celebrated archaeologist and university lecturer was born 100 years ago. A new digital textbook „Materials in Archaeology“ will also be presented at the exhibition opening. The exhibition opens at 16.00.
Mari Tõrv, Kadri-Ann Pankratov and Marju Himma awarded with the Baltic Women in Science fellowships
All three women received the fellowships of €7,000 in recognition of their research so far and to support further research in their scientific fields.

This year’s recipients of honorary decorations have been announced
On 25 October, the University of Tartu senate decided to award the University of Tartu Grand Medal to Professor of International Business Urmas Varblane. Also, the recipients of the University of Tartu Star of Appreciation, Medal, Badge of Distinction and the decoration “100 Semesters at the University of Tartu” have been announced.

Riho Altnurme was elected Honorary Doctor of the University of Latvia
On 27 September, the University of Latvia conferred an Honorary Doctorate on Riho Altnurme, Vice Dean for Research of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Professor of Church History. The diploma was handed to him at the University of Latvia’s formal senate meeting dedicated to the university’s 105th anniversary.

Professor Karl Pajusalu wins the Latvian and Estonian Language Promotion Award
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna and Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže announced the winner of the Latvian and Estonian Language Promotion Award in Cēsis, Latvia on July 5th.
University of Tartu recognised again with "Respecting differences" quality label
On 29 May, the Estonian Human Rights Centre presented the "Respecting differences" label to the University of Tartu for the second time at the joint building of ministries in Tallinn.

The results of the QS World University Rankings by Subject have just been published, where Linguistics achieved a particularly outstanding result among the fields of research at the University of Tartu.
Professor Peeter Tulviste Memorial Fund scholarship is awarded to Mari Tõrv
The €5,000 scholarship of the Professor Peeter Tulviste Memorial Fund of the University of Tartu Foundation was awarded to Mari Tõrv, Associate Professor of Archaeology and Research Fellow in Analytical and Physical Chemistry at the University of Tartu, whose research focuses on the interpretation and protection of archaeological cultural heritage.
